The story of this shipwreck is very curious, as this is the third Greek ship that sank in the archipelago. The official name of the vessel is Maria Stathatos and she caught fire in the year 1937 anchored at the port of Fernando de Noronha.

On fire until it reached the wreckage, the rest of the ship sank and is in place to this day, being visited by divers who come to the site.

  • hell hole

Buraco do Inferno is an excellent place for diving, oscillating at depths ranging from 6 to 18 meters, ideal for scuba diving.

It is an underwater cave of incomparable beauty and unique characteristics that allow divers who have some diving experience, even the basics, to pass through.

The underwater view of the place allows you to observe many sea turtles of different sizes that look for food in the coral reefs that exist there.

Buraco do Inferno still has the great advantage of being very close to a wall called Cordilheira, which is over thirty meters long and is also an excellent diving spot in Noronha.

The name Buraco do Inferno was given due to the pressure that varies a lot inside the cave due to currents and tidal variations, however, the view of the place is truly a paradise.

  • Shoe tip

Ponta da Sapata is another amazing place to be seen underwater by divers looking to explore every place on Fernando de Noronha!

It is right at the tip of the main island of Noronha and can be easily seen by those who arrive there.

Those who already have some experience in scuba diving should be done at Ponta, because the depth at higher tides can reach up to 27 meters.

As this area belongs to the Marine National Park, access by land is only possible through a very beautiful trail that compensates for the view of the vegetation and animal life in the place.

Interestingly, there is another shipwreck at Ponta da Sapata that can also be seen by those who decide to dive there! Check the next point!

  • Ipiranga Corvette

The Corveta Ipiranga is a ship wrecked in Noronha that is also located in Ponta da Sapata and can be seen by those who dive there.

The Corveta Ipiranga is a ship that belonged to the patrol of the Brazilian Navy and that collided with the head of the Sapata, causing its shipwreck.

Although the navigation was wrecked in 1983, the ship is very well preserved, especially due to the dives that take place there and that make the vessel an important underwater tourist spot in Noronha.

  • Two Brothers Slab

Laje Dois Irmãos can reach a depth of 24 meters and vary up to 13 meters at lower tides and is very famous for allowing diving alongside sharks that pass through the site.

The slab is a beautiful formation of rocks at the bottom of the sea that have an infinity of corals and sea sponges forming special and very different landscapes that can be appreciated by those who dive through the place.

The slab gets its name because it is close to Morro Dois Irmãos and is a place for those with an intermediate level of diving.

  • luias

Luís is a region that is in the so-called Mar de Fora, that is, the external part of the archipelago and which is ideal for diving for those who already have a higher level of diving practice, but it is also possible to dive accompanied by experienced monitors.

There is a volcanic formation in the place that makes the seabed very beautiful and where it is also a frequent spot for fine-beaked sharks!

  • Goat's Hole

This is also an excellent diving spot that offers an average depth of 15 meters and rock formations with abundant marine life.

In fact, Buraco das Cabras is a canal crossing very colorful by the marine animals that make the path one of the most beautiful experiences in Fernando de Noronha.

  • Dry Stones

The Pedras Secas are groups of rocks from the seabed that reach the surface and that give their name to inns and other places in Noronha due to their magnitude.

The place is incredible for diving and can reach up to 15 meters deep depending on the tide.

The underwater route to Pedras Secas passes through a kind of cave formed by the stones themselves, which make the path an almost enchanted setting!

After passing through the cave, it is possible to reach several arches formed by limestone that serve as shelters for marine life. As the corals settled in the arches, divers can pass inside these incredible formations just by controlling the buoyancy correctly.

Some divers with plenty of time claim that Pedras Secas is really impressive when visited underwater, and is also an important habitat for lobsters!

  • Ilha do Frade

This is the most sheltered region from the wind and strong currents that it is possible to find in Fernando de Noronha, therefore one of the safest and most suitable for diving.

The shallowest sector is 8 meters deep and the deepest reaches twenty-two meters, requiring a little more caution.
